Telecom Expense Management has been in use since the 1970’s, the techniques have differed and the common names of TEM, Call Management, Call Logging keep changing, but the need is not new.

Having been involved in this market since 1976 I have seen the gradual growth of each variety of TEM product, where competing products kept adding functionality to be seen as the biggest and best. Indeed many such products have been my own.

What I have also seen over the years is how few system once sold ever get used, and the more expensive and comprehensive, the more likely it is to just sit on the shelf. The reason for this is these systems take dedicated time and effort to manage and operate which tends to negate any savings identified.

The demand for some element of TEM is growing, fuelled by the growth of mobile telephony and more recently mobile data.

To satisfy this demand in a way that overcomes the issues that I have identified, Past Masters has developed PmReporting. This is a managed service that delivers comprehensive WEB hosted corporate reports directly to line managers without the client having to do anything at all.

The reports come in two sets, the first set is a monthly ten page colour graphical report set containing around twenty separate reports. The second is a three page rolling year analysis showing trends. Both reports address fixed and mobile telephony. If a client defines 50 cost centres then each month 50 reports will be hosted and 50 emails will be delivered advising when the latest reports can be viewed. Four levels of corporate hierarchy allow a client to consolidate reports up the organisational structure. Of course if a client defines 1,000 cost centres than 1,000 reposts are hosted each month.

Once hosted, reports remain available to view or download for at least six months. There is no need to run anything or configure anything other than making directory changes to move people into different cost centres. This task can either be managed by us by taking a feed from the client personnel data or via a simple WEB portal.

What happens if one of our standard reports indicates a need to dig deeper into a specific area? Simple, just ask us to deliver some more detailed analysis as a one off. Or even ask us to send one of our people to work with you to address and identify any issues.

So to summarise the benefits of PmReporting, a client can have 100% of the necessary management information for 1% of the effort and a fraction of the cost of the traditional TEM solutions currently offered.
